ALPR Privacy Policy
This policy is to ensure the collection, use, maintenance, sharing, and dissemination of our customer’s Automated License Plate Recognition (“ALPR”) information is consistent with respect for individual’s privacy and civil liberties and complies with the provisions of California Civil Code Section 1798.90.51 et seq. This policy is available to members of the public, in writing upon request to SUREPARK Tech, LLC. (“SUREPARK”).
1. The purpose for using the ALPR system and collecting ALPR data is to allow for more efficient entry/exit, to identify and track abandoned vehicles, to verify overnight vehicle counts, and to respond to the inquiries of law enforcement agencies and/or security. At some locations ALPR data is also used to determine authorization for access to parking garages.
2. We engage in third party independent ALPR systems for use within the properties we manage. Authorized SUREPARK personnel may under certain circumstances have access to ALPR information. All personnel with access to ALPR systems and data undergo training on the proper use and handling of ALPR data in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws and to safeguard customer privacy.
These authorized personnel include:
• SUREPARK Corporate staff – SUREPARK Corporate staff investigate and/or review revenue collection using [RM1] ALPR systems to maintain the integrity of system information and authorized use by personnel.
• PARCS Technicians – Technicians maintain systems operation, service conditions, and provide access to systems data, software, and reporting.
3. We have taken reasonable steps according to industry standards to safeguard the information technology utilized in relation to the ALPR systems including the implementation of procedures to ensure that our systems are free from any components that would permit unauthorized access by a third party. The sale and unauthorized dissemination of customer license plate information is strictly prohibited by company policy. Violations will include disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
4. We do not sell, share or transfer any ALPR information.
5. Our Technical Director, is responsible for the oversight and implementation of our ALPR compliance including ensuring the data collected and stored is accurate.
6. Upon customer request to verify ALPR information in our possession, we will take reasonable measures to do so and to confirm such information and, if inaccurate, correct the ALPR information.
7. Most ALPR information collected using the ALPR system will remain on file for a period of 30 days and shall be automatically purged from the ALPR system upon the expiration of this period. ALPR information logged with monthly customer accounts will remain in the system until the customer becomes inactive. Some system event information will be kept per the contract guidelines for each location’s record retention policy.
